This case study highlights how Gibco™ Efficient-Pro™ Medium enabled Fresenius Kabi to overcome key biosimilar development challenges by achieving both high product titers and stringent critical quality attributes (CQAs). During media and feed screening, Efficient-Pro Medium consistently delivered titers above target while maintaining more favorable glycan profiles—particularly in reducing galactosylated and afucosylated species—compared to other conditions. Through subsequent process optimisation and scale-up, the Efficient-Pro Medium further improved product quality by lowering undesirable glycan variants and aggregates, while sustaining strong productivity. Ultimately, Efficient-Pro was selected as the optimal solution, enabling Fresenius Kabi to meet target titers, align product quality with biosimilar requirements, and progress efficiently toward commercial-scale manufacturing.
